If you ask me, homemade mashed potatoes should be in everyone’s kitchen arsenal. Really, what could be better? This is my dad’s recipe, and a simple and quick favorite of mine. My husband has to have them with chicken fried anything. Enjoy!
These make a great pair with Chicken Fried Deer Steaks and Creamy Gravy!
Ingredients
- 4 russet potatoes
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 2 tbs. salted butter
- 1 tsp. garlic salt (We always use Lawry’s)
Directions
Peel and rinse off your potatoes. Rough chop them into medium sized chunks and put them in a sauce pan or stock pot. Cover them with water and place on them on medium to high heat. Boil for at least 15 minutes or until potatoes are soft and cooked all the way through.
Drain the water and put the potatoes in a mixing bowl. You can use a hand mixer, or a stand mixer. Add the milk, salted butter, and garlic butter. Mix on medium until the chunks of potatoes become creamy. Salt and pepper to taste.
